I read this article several weeks ago. I tend to mostly agree with it - we are pampering our own vanity and need for attention.
If we *really* just wanted to chronicle our darling children, we would stick to the diaries and baby books.
That question there (x years down the line, you prom date can google your history) is pertinent.
I must admit, I am still not totally comfortable with blogging in too much detail about my children. Sure, I put the funny anecdotes there and I've put my little one's one-year summary...but...I've been troubled by some fellow blogging mom's recent experiences.
However, I think the article missed the sense of community that tends to develop when mommies (or daddies) get blogging.
In fact, it was this very article which prompted a draft...I'll see if I lazy me can finish that one and post it.
Initially I thought I'd blog 'publicly' for 3 months and see how it went - now I'll extend that another 3 months and see whether I want to continue :)
It can get addictive, can't it? That's another point the article didn't mention, I think
